Ericsson Signs $127 Million Axe Contract with Telia

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, 1998--Ericsson has signed a contract with Telia, the largest Swedish
operator, valued at approximately $127 million. The contract covers Telia's requirements for AXE equipment and functionality
over the next two years.

''The purchase makes it possible for Telia to maintain the competitiveness and the cost-efficiency in our telecom network, which is
one of the most modern in the world,'' says Mr. Olof Ulander, Senior Vice President, Head of Telia Network Services Division.

With this nationwide upgrade, Telia will be able to offer their customers more advanced services. The upgrade will start at the
beginning of 1998 and by the end of April 1999, all telecom exchanges will be upgraded with the new functionality in operation.

''Ericsson's task is to upgrade and add new functionality and higher capacity. It is mainly data processing power, the AXE brain,
that will be replaced,'' says Mr. Bo Wall, General Manager at Ericsson Telecom Sweden, Ericsson Infocom Systems.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries. Their combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks,
mobile phones and infocom systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in telecommunications.
