Andrew,
I believe that the difference between the 2/4 date you have and the 2/9 date others have given is because of the 3 day settlement period. Trades executed on 2/4 will not settle until 3 business days later, which is 2/9 when margin will be effective. It probably depends on how your broker wants to play it.

Thanks for the report, but who is your broker? Two of our brokers called the Feds and got Feb 9 as the official date, and yours says the 4th? This guy hears a different drummer. :-)

It would be better for the stock during the next few trading days if there were more unanimity, don't you think? Still, it's great it's happening and by the 9th I hope all the brokers will be in step. I have a call at Ameritrade and haven't even tried to discuss it with them yet.
