I agree this country is completely broken and there is no unity, which means we are unable to implement common sense solutions, because everything is turned ideological. If the right suggests something, then it must be racist and white supremacist. If the left suggests something, then it must be radical Maoist. There is very little common ground left.

However, where I disagree is when you said that the travel and entertainment industries are not impacted by lockdowns. That is simply not what the data says. These industries have been the primary industries that are suffering the most. It is estimated that 1/3 of all airline routes have disappeared due to the lockdowns. The airline industry alone is experiencing a catastrophic loss of revenue and they are no longer operating at a profit. It is a matter of time before they all go bankrupt without government subsidies. The hotel industry is a complete disaster. In NYC, 80% of hotels are within 3 months of bankruptcy. Retail shops in all the big blue cities are boarded up and 50% are within 6 months of bankruptcy. The loss in the travel and entertainment and related retail industries are at the breaking point. COVID was bad enough, but in the blue cities they have had to deal with riots, looting, and recurring organized crime raids. It's a one two punch that will kill a minimum of 50% of these businesses and probably more like 75-80% of them if Biden engineers another lockdown of 4-8 weeks, which is what his advisors are telling him to do.

And for what? For the 15% of the population is 65 or older. This is the most at risk and should take the most care and we should help them. The other 85% have between a 99.5% and 99.98% survivability rate. Again, I've noticed that you guys continually ignore the data when you make your statements. With those kinds of survivability rates, there is no need to lock down 85% of the population. Let them go about their business and for quarantine the older folks. That is what is required here.
