I agree with you, which is why I say that we should urge folks older than 70 to isolate themselves and urge those under 70 to wash their hands and social distance, but go about their lives normally otherwise. This would give us the best of both worlds. Younger people who get COVID can help our country build up herd immunity, while we wait for the vaccine to be distributed widely, which can then allow our older people to rejoin normality. Nuanced approaches are almost always better than one-size fits all, ham-fisted approaches. I noticed the Biden campaign has come out now and said they are NOT considering a lockdown. Good for them. They are thinking properly about this so far.
