why else would the defense sec. speak to a banking committee????????? Whether this is necessary, I think it stinks. Why isn't this behind closed doors? I appreciate the media, but when the people of influence take poles to decide what we want to hear so they know what to say - we have a squeamish leadership. Rather than addressing necessary problems directly they are throwing hints to control our emotions. these hints get worse and worse all the time and they gamble that it numbs our brains enough to accept the next round. They are making mistakes, and in that, find the need to create larger ones. I could easiest refer you for a moment to:Message 3299610 As for: Here's a guy carrying the weight of ridiculous rumors about his neck, standing before the world during the State of the Union speech --never flinched, never stammerd or stuttered. It took tremendous strength and courage and that IS character. Why is his character in question? Not Question. -Answer- He IS a character! If he were a lover of music, he could loose his troubles for a few brief and welcome moments playing his favorite songs on a piano. Not so, he is taking his relief as what he is. Slick Willie. HE doesn't care what he says. And it feels so good! He's an Actor. In those wonderful moments his "twitch" is cured! The person who wrote the italics above (#6959) is judging a Mr. Clinton that was high on his own personal heroin at exactly that time. This heroin is a personal benefit of his, not ours. The people who came in on his coat tails help him know what to say. He picked them so they could help him. They take poles. There's no leadership, save the misdirected purpose behind it. Right now the Clinton group is solving our true problems with the following reasoning: "when in doubt, take up the flag of someone else's idea." In this case Bush VS. Hussein. - as per Defense Secretary William Cohen, who said "it may be the first time a defense chief has appeared before a banking committee. And, the present government needs the feel-good of a war, so look for one, soon." I do not consider distraction a valid reason that any war should need to occur just now. (but then, I am not President Clinton) Dave
