Completely agree.

Anecdotally - based on social media, extended family, friends and neighbours, the people who are most in favor of restrictive policies and lockdowns have family members or very close friends who are in an "at risk" category. Also, they are NOT impacted by lockdowns themselves, i.e no loss of income, no mental health issues. In many cases, their disposable / investable income has actually increased because entertainment and dining out expenses have dramatically decreased.

Meanwhile, the lockdowns WILL cause young mothers to die prematurely due to breast cancer. My wife just scheduled her mammogram - was able to book an appointment within a week, but ONLY because she could free up her schedule and take a cancellation opening. Otherwise, 3 plus months.

Considering stats show that only about 30% of Canucks get the flu vaccine annually .. until this Covid year when it surged far beyond the gov expectation so they only procured 30% extra ... WTF ?

anyway .. lots won't get it... won't care.. but you cannot mandate a vaccine at gov level.. rights and such . and I agree.. but my son for his stage (internship) needed a ton of vaccine proof.. so maybe this is where the private sector can save the day .. no vaccine .. no job.. that would pass legal challenges... whereas gov mandate likely would rightly fail...

We need to protect the right of folks to be stupid (Good for the gene pool) as long as it does not impact others at an onerous level...

Wow a backlog ..

anyway

My line is always this .. I do not fear Covid.. I know that is not what's going to kill me.. but I DO NOT WANT TO BE ANYONE'S ANGEL OF DEATH..

that should make it perfectly clear.. Your locking up line is a Red Herring ... It is about the science .. EXACTLY ...

You realise of course that vaccines or not (I realise that vaccines were still like the Maltese Falcon when you posted that .. The Stuff of Dreams .. in case you are not a bogie fan :) it is about not spreading it.. and again co morbidity is the last refuge of the dull and inconsiderate .. these co-morbities are health issues that were being managed .. allowing folks lives.. Covid takes that away .. so Covid killed them .. regardless of pronouncement..
