John, <<is there something better than "painfull intraurethral MUSE"
on the market? >>is what you are asking. The answer is no. In medicine you don't always have an easy solution to a difficult problem. We are
looking for one.Until then people will use MUSE. Vivus is working on other local intraurethral products.Hopefully less painful.Local therapy though is the key in medicine less exposure to systemic side effects. This is why MUSE now at 600,000 patients per year equals in only 1 year in the market the equivalent of all the patients taking the needle. Pain from MUSE is not that bad. Furhtermore, once into sexual activity, the plaesure sensation overrides in the brain the painfull sensation.A well known fact where men will continue intercourse even if they have painfull abrasions in the galns penis from too much friction. The plewsure / pain equqtion is resolved in the brain.

John, another thing to consider is that many of our potential clients fall into a group where the idea of sticking something into their urethra may not be all that traumatic.

If they have sought help and consulted with their urologist or if they are an older male who has had other urologic problems, there is a good chance that they've had a cystoscopy at some point. After one of those, the idea of sticking an applicator half the size of a typical urine stream into your penis is probably not all that intimidating.

Additionally, MUSE is the premier non-injectable product on the market right now. Until (if) Viagra gets approval, we are the least invasive option available. My understanding is that Vivus is also working on next generation MUSE products. These would include adding additional active ingredients to make the product more effective and who knows what else. Either way, MUSE is likely to improve its effectiveness and if you believe Gene Voss that effectiveness could at some point approach that of the injectables which are considered the gold standard by which all else is measured in the ED field.

Good luck,
Gary
