There are no guarantees in regard to anything. And I mean anything. Some people don't pay taxes and get away it. Some people, like Walt Disney had his body frozen so he can be revived again when science finds a cure for death. My point is nothing is full proof. People get the flu after taking the flu shot. Likewise, people will get Covid after taking the vaccine. In life, it is wise to reduce your odds of getting sick. The flu shot helps some people. The Covid vaccine will help others. Yes, big pharma will make big money. A life cannot be measured in terms of dollars and cents. I suppose if you live in the woods and have little contact with other people, it is not crucial to get the Covid vaccine. But it will help save lives. And maybe taking the shot will help reduce the effects of Covid. No one here is presenting the Covid vaccine as the saviour of humanity. It is a great achievement and will help. Anything that reduces death and people getting Covid is a good thing.

It will protect against the entire group of COVID-19 variations out there. It's a entirely new class of vaccine. It is not like an influenza vaccine. You don't have to choose ignorance, you know. Turn off the TV, read from reliable sources. Like other vaccines, it will not be 100% -- yet. But if "only" 95% of the people have powerful resistance, the spread will drop dramatically because that's the way it will necessarily play out. You think pharmaceutical companies should not make any money on this? Why not? I need a car, and yet car companies are allowed to make money. Is it a crime for them to make money, but OK for Goldman Sachs to make money selling toxic securities? Or auto companies to make money when they just know we (almost) all need cars? Babies really need diapers. Should those companies not be allowed to make money? The amount of money they will make per vaccine is shockingly low, imo. Less than thirty bucks. Big freakin' whoop. Do you have any idea how much you'd pay for a couple days in the ICU, even WITH insurance? And the cost for the vaccine to you when it comes out? Zero. I'm hoping this new class of vaccine will yield some gains in the next few years, like maybe a vaccine that protects against the entire class of rhinoviruses out there. Which aren't lethal, but I hate catching them. I'd pay a hundred bucks out of pocket for a five or ten year immunity to all of them.
