why doesn't she just go to Best Buy, Staples, CompUSA, or Computer Cities (or RadioShack in March) and buy one of the sub-$1000 computers. All these computers seem like a good deal to me. The 233MHZ AMD computer looks really cheap, yet remember monitor is not included.

Buy a good monitor, and just buy a sub-$1000 computer every couple of years.
