There is hope. These vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer are mRNA vaccines that use your cells to manufacture antibodies that identify the virus via the "spike" in the corona virus to id and kill it. The new strains of corona virus that you see out there, including the one in Victoria, Australia, that spreads very fast and is more deadline, all have the "spike". So as long as the virus does not mutate to eliminate the spike, then these vaccines will continue to be effective. Keep in mind also that these spikes in corona are exactly how they infiltrate our cells. They use the spike to puncture the cell and inject its own virus manufacturing engine.

So for now, I am not worried about the mutations. When I see an article that says the corona virus has lost its spike and is still deadly and fast spreading, then I will begin to worry about the long term efficacy of the two major vaccines.
