I'm very disappointed that maguey is only mildy intoxicating but thank you for such an excellent and informative post.

I confess I was disappointed as well. But look on the bright side; perhaps it makes a wonderful marinade. The durian thing is getting old.

Still, penni, if a pit has to be dug, I feel pretty safe. I did notice, with you, the good manners of our new friends. Mescal is good for smoothies, you just have to put more in. You know, with me living in the land of liquor stores, I now realize the cool part about distilleries, is that they take the gooey and lumpy parts out. That the wonders of science ensure and magnify clarity, as well as power.

I know I'm a drink sissy. I like my liquids non-viscous. (I've never had betel, either. Nor even ~ damn ~ durian.)

"You are an original Rambian, dear Gaugie." These are uplifting words. I am flattered, or just reminded of things I've forgotten. I remember finding this place irresistibly intoxicating after JFQ and Jeff sprayed some "B and B" (Beavis and Butthead) on some canvases.
