George - I didn't ask where he got his numbers, but I was surprised that he HAD some numbers. I thought, too, that XOMA was not giving out any numbers. He might have called hospitals were trials are going on, as you said.

I seem to remember that awhile back when XOMA was gearing up for
the Phase 3 Hem Trauma, Jim McCamant was saying that the trial was
going to happen in November (or something like this..it's not the
point of this post). People were upset that he was saying specific
dates when XOMA IR was saying nothing. It was then said that
McCamant had his own sources in Xoma. Considering Murphy and
McCamant worked together (albeit a long time ago), IMHO it's very
possible that Murphy may have his own sources. (Maybe the same
ones).
I am not making any accusations about anyone saying anything, it's
just something I remembered. Dates or specifics may be wrong.
I apologize. (now I sound like Slick Willy)

All this is conjecture so take it FWIW. JF

George,
Murphy makes his money from information. I would be surprised if he did not have a reasonably skilled information gathering system (network, personnel, what the heck--maybe a Private Eye or two). There are a lot of ways to gather information. Industrial espianoge is still alive and well, and any organization that does not practice a 100% shredding policy is a potential source. It doesn't take Mission Impossible tactics, I remember the Soviets caught wind of Star Wars via a note tossed into a trash can somewhere in the DC area. Seems the janitor was on Russia's payroll.
