Prices drop in MSFT monopoly markets???

Compare DOS to WIN95. The OEM price went up to $75. Of course the consumer doesn't see that tariff so they just think its free.

Prices may drop when MSFT enters a market it doesn't yet monopolize, such as the browser market---but that is how a monopoly operates. Prices are cut until the competition goes out of business, then prices are raised.
