Well i just got myself an external Spar-q and am giving it's run through the mill tests,

I purchased it for various reason: 1) I have a laptop and pc and find it ideal because I will never need a new hard drive again.

2) I am getting full use for both work and school at night.

3) My built in hardrive now has space and is also now backed up fully.

4) Although, I have heard some people say that the parallel port drive version is slow, I tend to find that is suits me just fine. Reason being is that I just loaded and ran Quake2 on a cartridge and am getting a 18.5fps refresh rate running at 32bits . I also noticed that the game is running better as well as smoother(a gamers drive?)

5) For some reason my 24x spd cd-rom is also running better.

6) No problems with the install, and everything is working great.

It is my perception, that this is one piece of handy kit, and I know for a fact that Quake2 is almost the most demmanding game (for systems) on the market. I might even say that the Spar-q is faster than my Maxtor 1.2gb drive. What a product.
