RE: No sale! Ted and all, They didn't get my shares. <g> Sorry to be so silent, everyone, but for one thing, I've been really busy, and for another, the number of posts has been so absurdly overwhelming that I've been breathless trying to catch up and now have given up and just skipped most of them. Briefly, I was surprised by two things about the quarter. One, the EPS was a penny or two less than I expected, and two, I didn't see KE hiding any potential blowout money. Still, their growth and penetration of the market continues. Long ago, I posted that their market was actually very segmented, into about four different audiences, each a bit less technically sophisticated than the next. I think they've now hit a bit of a plateau or a stall between two of those segments. A contributing factor to that stalling is that basic hard drive sizes have gotten larger, which means that people aren't being forced by filled-to-capacity hard drives into the Zip camp the way they were back (less than two years ago) in the days of 540 MB hard drives. The advertising may help move things along, though I think it's a risk. It'll only work if, in fact, there are enough requests for an internal Zip option on orders to OEMs that the OEMs decide to follow Micron's lead and make the Zip the default A: drive. Time will tell. I'm still holding on, but it may not reach my target of $30 ($60 pre split) until late 1999 or early 2000. That's about a year later than I'd been planning on. C'est la guerre. If it hits my target then, I'll still make a sufficient annual return on it to make my very timid investing heart beat rapidly. More later when I can really come up for air. In the meantime, please let's not start with that stupid LS-120 nonsense all over again just because of one ill-informed article by a lazy journalist. I'm guessing by her silence, Ted, that Truff sold into the crash. She sure sounded like she was gonna. Sic transit gloria mundi. I miss her sharp wit. Cheers, Tom (long IOM)
