Well, this definitely puts pressure on RMBS from INTC. But again, I do not think that INTC has time to change its design when other companies such as Motorola and Sun knock at the door with their own designs for low-end PCs and set-top boxes at 1998 yearend.

I am surprised to see a consortium move faster than a single company. Usually consortium members fight each other as much (at least) as they fight consortium competition. I learned this from PCs hardware and software consortiums (OSF, ACE, etc. ).

Netscape was marginalized (Macintoshized, I would coin) by Microsoft, not by a consortium.

Just my two cents.
