<Average Joes are getting sick to be punished by Intel quarter after quarter after they overpaid for the overpriced Intel processors.>

Fuchi,

Believe what you will. I can see that your beliefs and convictions have been very prosperous thus far <GGGG>. Still waiting for CYRX at 200 and INTC at 10.

FF ....who loves the way CYRX threw in the towel

Investor A; I have always seen these reports based on the brand names, Dell, Gateway etc. However I see more computers sold by generic screwdriver shops than by the big names here in Canada, and I wonder if the same holds true in the USA.
A few years ago y stores took part in a 2 year quarterl survey by a market assessment company. They would inspect my sales every month, keep it all confidential, and at the end give me a copy of the report.

It came out, with IBM, Dell, AST etc all ranked with sales etc.
A friend of mine was a distributor for Panasonic and he owns 4 depots across Canada supplying floppy drives to screwdriver shops. All the major OEMs buy direct from the major drive makers, so he sells them none.

I showed him the report.He showed me his floppy drive sales. His sales of 3.5" floppy drives in Canada exceeded the sales of the majors surveyed computer systems added together

I assume each computer by and large has 1 3.5" floppy. So I conclude these market surveys are full of errors and can seriously underestimate that 'screwdriver' shop segment.

Does anyone have a handle on the screwdriver shop segment?

I suspect if you took the CPU sales figures from Intel, AMD, Cyrix and IBM and summed them you would get a total for global system sales. I do not know how to break the USA/Canada our from that. I suspect it might be impossible. And this will only work if we get accurate CPU sales stats.

Bill

Fuchi Wu - Re: "Average Joes are getting sick from being punished by Intel quarter after quarter after they overpaid for the overpriced Intel processors."

Then why did Average Joe buy 80 million Intel CPUs last year, to the tune of $25 BILLION in sales?

I'll give you a hint - Intel's CPUs are the best.

Here's a little hint why -

Tom Pabst loves your 6x86MX. Here's what he says about Cyreaks and Intel:

{===============================}
If you want to buy a 3D graphic card, you got to realize the 3D geometry performance of your system. Currently the IDT WinChip is offering the worst, the next one is the 6x86MX, then the K6, followed by the Pentium MMX and the best 3D geometry performance in X86 systems you'll of course find in Pentium Pro/Pentium II systems. Then you have to know if you want to play Quake, Quake II or any other game that's using this engine. The Quake/Quake II engine is the most FPU power hungry 3D engine, Turok e.g. is not as particular about the FPU performance and many other Direct3D games like e.g. Forsaken or Incoming aren't either. After you are aware of
these two parameters, you want to take a look at the 'CPU Scaling of 3D Chips' charts below.

{===========================}

You get what you pay for.
