Thanks a lot for the post. EMC's IR department told me MTI plays on the small to medium size playing field, whereas EMC is only Super Bowl material. I like the fact MTI hasn't done a real good job marketing, but feel this should turn around with a great '97 and expected great '98, marketing dollars should start to pump. Siebel Systems has done a great job of getting the exposure when things really started to cook for themselves, hopefully MTI has some good talent in that area. Again, thanks for the insight, comparison shopping is always a good thing.

Good luck.

Rick, By far the most informative post on comparing EMC/MTIC that I've read. Thank you. I hope you stick around and help straighten us out when we occasssionally mis-speak about the products.

Regarding on-site support, etc., how do you evaluate MTIC's news, here?

mti.com

<< MTI is adding a number of technical system analysts to screen technical problems at the time a service call is placed rather than having customers wait for a return call. This will enable MTI field service to be more responsive and proactive in its customer care.

"We are raising the bar by taking a good field service organization and making it `world class' by adding the tools and people necessary to continue to support MTI's diverse customer base," he said. "Not every company is willing to make the investment necessary to maintain the value of its service organization and stay ahead of the competition. MTI wants to advance its customer service to the next level of excellence and that is why I am here. My mission is to implement a new standard of customer service." >>

Here's an excerpt from the latest Q report on the same subject:

<< In addition, within the next two months we plan to bring online our new Customer Response Center in an effort to provide state-of-the-art service and support to our domestic customers. >>

If I'm reading and evaluating, correctly, MTIC already has the product and price, by far, and is now addressing the only area in which it was lacking.

Thanks again for enlightening us.
