No, even more: they’re entirely convinced that “knowledge” productivity is inherently superior to physical productivity. It is as if 19th century finance decided that finance was all that is needed. No need for railroads, plants, factories, and productive infrastructure. Data is only valuable if it is put to use in productive activity. Are we to be a nation of Big Data kazillionaires divining the consumerist needs (for foreign-made goods, of course) of a desperately poor population of Twitter celebrities and McDonalds workers? Talk about dystopian.
