It seemed to be the sign of a down market to me.

The wires this morning have a story on Digital rolling out its 600mhz Alpha chip imaged at .18; to be followed promptly with 700 and 900 mhz editions. Seems to me that it you're Andy Grove and the fastest offering you have is a pokey 333mhz Pentium II, this has just got to get your attention. Seems like INTC *has* to jump to the DUV Micrascan III's ASAP to maintain position in the clock-speed contest. "Only the paranoid survive" and all of that, you know.

Am I missing something here?

Regards,

John

I believe the gap up was caused by the upgrades. Perhaps day-traders etc..

I believe some traders got out at the end of the day thinking the stock will move back down on Monday etc..

I show a positive reading from TC2000 interms of accumulation which has been real lately. On the other hand, the chart bar is negative and looking at the past.. I'd guess the stock is going to close lower on Monday than Friday, although it may reach a higher point at sometime in the day. Of course no one really knows and I don't really care :-)

Zeev, I know that you have no position in CYMI and are trying to time the entry, I simply did not (and still do not) understand the logic behind your statement. We both agree with assumption that company was not a major buyer yesterday. Barring the assumption that company was buying back stock, almost 3.5M shares were redistributed between market participants at 10% premium to previous close - what's wrong with that?

BTW, action on MU immediately after the first upgrade was very similar (and, as you've pointed out yourself on this thread, the upgrade justification was based on similar logic - current quarter looks bad, but there are reasonable chances that the situation will improve). I am not comparing CYMI with MU, just pointing out that this type action does not mean that the stock is bound to tank.
