Like all people who insist on being referred to as "Doctor" I have been around a few people who insist on being addressed in a certain way. If I deem them dweebs, I don't use any title, pronoun, name or whatever. If I respect them, I accommodate their wish.

Yes but it doesn't explain it in the most useful and understandable manner. For example, A BS degree is "Bull $#!t". MS degree is "More of the Same". Ph.D. is "Piled Higher and Deeper". So Eg.D. is ... Example Degree? Egomaniac Groundhog Degree? ... BTW - most PH.D.'s that I know do not like being called "doctor" - I agree with you, when they insist on being called "doctor", it is either due to socially insecurity, or a "I'm better than you" complex. Even in academia, oftentimes the professor likes to be called by the first name. At a talk, then a title is used.
