The most extensive Television exposure of the Y2k issue that I've every seen was on "Tony Brown's Journal" this morning.

A 1/2 hour discussion between Mr. Brown and the CEO of Pi Technologies and their chief programmer went into extensive detail relating to the problems facing worldwide remediation efforts (mainly COBOL). A very dark picture of the next two years in terms of economic, societal and business changes brought about by the lack of programmers available to do the Y2k job. (They did mention how Pi's hourly rates are rising and of the incredible revenues pouring into their company).

It was as if C.K. had met with the participants and scripted the entire conversation.

Unfortunately, hardly anyone watches Tony Brown's Journal.

But, it was a very serious and indepth television discussion of an important societal issue (there's always a first time for everything!) that hopefully will prompt more of the same.

Among the people who do DD on this thread, I am most impressed with Zebra. He/she has presented the info in a comprehensive and logical manner, without resorting to a lot of copy-and-paste articles.

Good job Zebra.
