That made the intel that Saddam still possessed WMD's very believable.

Saddam wanted the world to believe he had stockpiles of WMD's. He assumed the MAD model would prevent what happened. BTW, he still did have WMD's. Just not the massive stockpiles the world assumed.

The UN said Saddam didn't have any new WMDs. What someone believes or believed is not important. There was no reason for war.
