Stockman, re:

<<These DEC executives who got this DEC merger (and whom Pfiefer trusts to get it to work) dont come with high credentials.

So, the long term investor would do well to wait, until the dust settles.>>

So you're saying DEC execs with poor credentials infiltrated Compaq and conned poor ole Pfieffer into buying their dead company? hehe
When "the dust settles" CPQ will be 60 and the long term investors will have yet another double.

Robbie

Stockman, Re: So, the long term investor would do well to wait, until the dust settles.

There is some merit to what you say. However, the dust on the DEC merger will not settle for at least one to two years.

It wll take 3 to 4 months until the merger closes. Then it will take at least six months for Compaq to complete most of the major changes that they will make (eg. layoffs, restructuring, selling divisions, closing factories etc.) Then you won't know the true bottom line results for several quarters later or longer.

After all that, then you will have a different reason for not buying.
