The Y2k points that were discussed were familiar to all regular readers of this thread ..... the difference was the full use of the 1/2 hour program, an inquisitive host and two very intelligent and well-spoken guests who conveyed the enormity of the remediation efforts in front of them ..... Unfortunately, they concerned themselves with COBOL - with no mention of embedded chips ..... - another show perhaps.

They young chief programmer made a comment that was interesting.... he pleaded for college students in programming to take a 2 year break from school NOW in order to be a part of the Y2k task in front of them ... He spoke of the man/woman power shortage and of the enormous recruitment problems facing their company. (Did I read somewhere that Computer Associates is looking to hire 6000 y2k programmers!)
