Was talking with the spousal unit about this so I decided to do my own check of the "hidden unemployment vs. the certified workforce".
So

13% between 15 and 24 (I'll count half of them)
39% between 25 and 54
13% between 55 and 64
18% over 65 (I'll count one third of them that need to work)

42/2 + 182 + 42 + 28/3

That is around 210 MM people - let's take 10 percent of that off for disabled, mental issues, schooling or training or some other situation that makes working impractical. That puts the potential workforce at around 190 MM. Intuitively that sounds about right - around two/thirds the people alive could help society in some way and should get paid doing it.

The official US workflorce is 160MM. The missing 30MM people puts the unemployed at 3/16th of the population being technically unemployed for a "real unemployment" of 18.75%
