John, Shoe...

I understand the extra admin associated with IRA's (and don't mind paying some fees). But with all the seperate types of IRA's that the IRS requires you to keep seperate now, it seems as though Waterhouse could re-consider their fee structure, possibly just reduce it to say 10.00 per surrender. I was hoping to consolidate all my accounts at one house, as I'm sure many other investors consider. It wouldn't be so hard to swallow if all institutions had similar fees. For example, most of the no-load families I have my IRAs at now will waive any and all fees (surrender and annual) if I maintain certain account balances (and also offer discount brokerage services). I will most likely do the consolidation to Waterhouse, and chalk the fees up the convience of having one statement and low commissions. Just seems as though they could waive these fees for say... 6 figure accounts. In my case they would certainly make it up the first month in commissions. I'll ask and let you know what they say.

Regards,

Mike
