Jon --

Awhile back I did a run through Spectrum's press releases and wondered how anyone could hold onto a stock with so little news coming out.

What I like is that there's absolutely no fluff. When something comes out, it's solid. I thought we'd get something in January --- apart from a new board chairman --- but that didn't happen. I've stopped asking. I figure if my money were in government bonds I certainly wouldn't call my broker and ask how they were doing. I'd just sit back and know the benefits would hit my account eventually without my having to do anything about it.

COMS CEO Benhamou spoke at ComNet and when he listed products that will be pervasive in the networked environment --- digital voice/data/video over IP, palm pilots, page and cell phones, and so on --- my first thought was DSPs and my second thought, TXN and SSPIF. We're investing in General Motors when most of the world's wondering who needs cars. TXN is the granddaddy and SSPIF the toddler.

As for earnings, I've been told if they're flat, year to year, it'll actually be a large gain as they had IBM business in '97.

Later --

Pat
