In sports betting there are no laws regarding the use of inside information, so it is very difficult for an outsider to consistently make money. My major exposure was horse racing, where in the United States virtually all of the horses run on drugs, and very few of those drugs need to be disclosed. Without the knowledge of what drugs a horse is being given, and why, it is a tough game to beat.

In Hong Kong, horse racing and drugs drugs are much more highly regulated and computers have successfully been used to score big profits.

Finally, with modern technology it is fairly easy to modify a performance enhancing drug so that it is no longer detectable under present testing methods, rendering drug testing much less effective.
