Interesting. Thanks.

I think it was Karl Jung who spent his life looking for windows into the unconscious. To Freud, the unconscious was the great source of energy, Eros - but he saw it as chaotic, needing the super ego filter in order to be of any constructive use.

Jung found the unconscious to be very structured, populated by energy centers with very distinct characteristics - and characters. He called them Archetypes. Most of them are very old, archaic. Jung’s famous “Red Book” is somewhat of an account of his own travels, his own descents into the unconscious. He felt that during those meditations he obtained so many great insights that he needed the rest of his life to translate them into a human language.

Dreams are often messages sent to us by our unconscious. Some years back I actually learned to recognize which dreams were just noise, simply the brain working out its issues - and which ones were “archetypal” dreams, where one could discern deeper symbolic meanings.

Anyway... :) Found this review medscape.com

Didn’t have a chance to read all the 10 parts, but what I read is very interesting. Melatonin has toxicities and side effects, but people can generally tolerate high doses. It’s an anti-aging hormone. Lots of interesting things about it.

I think I’ll try increasing my intake a bit, up from the 1.25mg.

In some countries you need a prescription for melatonin. I take 1000 mg of niacin right before bedtime, always wake up feeling great.

I tried increasing melatonin to 3mg, but will probably have to cut back. Yeah, dreams became more vivid, but it gave me a bit of a hangover. Takes longer to get going in the morning.
