Newly appointed Japanese Finance Minister Hiraku Matsunaga said
on Saturday that he will not let Japan's 19 major banks collapse.

Speaking to a group of Japanese news services, Matsunaga said that ''is one of my biggest duties to
prevent these 19 banks from going under.''

The top 19 are the nine city commercial banks, three long-term credit banks and seven trust banks.
One of the old group of 20, Hokkaido Takushoku Bank, went bankrupt last year.

Good luck, buddy!
