betty, i made the point a long time ago that jmar will track the semi equipment industry pretty closely. well, the industry is in trouble. mu down 50%, amat down 50% and jmar also got hit. i don't know about shorting to lock in profits, but jmar was due for a dip in any case.

if jmar has to give the company away and use that barbaric form of financing then i'd be a little concerned. it rarely works out well for shareholders.

If JMAR's 12/4/97 press release is accurate, you may understand my hesitancy with the "Swiss Investor Short Position". It begins,

"JMAR INDUSTRIES COMPLETES PRIVATE PLACEMENT OFFERING
SAN DIEGO, California (December 4, 1997) - JMAR Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ NM:JMAR) announced today that the Company has raised $3.4 million through a "best-efforts" private equity placement of 250,000 units. Each unit sold at a price of $13.60 pursuant to the provisions of SEC Regulation D and consisted of four shares of unregistered JMAR common stock and one warrant to purchase one additional share of common stock at a price of $4.40 per share..."
