i had started the 529 acts when kids were very young but closed them out a couple years later.

instead, i opened whole life insurances policies for them and now that they are in school i have supplemented some of the tuition cost with an occasional loan against their respective policies.

not a holy grail but it removes the use restriction of the funds and is a tax free withdrawal.

I can't imagine a bigger moral hazard than this. Incentivize more income-depressing activity so people will send their kids to college for free. What possibly could go wrong?

We have talked here before about how cheap federal loans allow schools to jack up prices. How much will tuition be if the govt is paying 100%? 32 new diversity deans, each with a staff of 40.

Hey, how about the rest of us suckers who paid full freight? Don’t we get a crumb?

I suppose having a child go through college and graduate debt-free is reward enough.

Funny that you mentioned my forgotten 529 account from cashback credit cards years ago. Time flies!

Striving hard to study well so we can contribute more to society deserves to be scholarshiped.

Once every kid can go to college the elites will invent a new way to instantiate their eliteness.
