If you could afford ISDN then you'll definitely like DSL. That's a valid upgrade path. One thing you and others must remember. The focus at this time is digital voice. Multiplexed voice and data still has significant engineering problems although various DSL vendors claim they've ironed out the bugs. Watch out for wild claims currently being made by swaggering engineering managers at US West. They remind me of the beginning investor who happens to select a successful stock. When the great expectations are not realized and the boys jump off the train, they are left holding the bag and quietly disappear upward into senior management.
