Rhet Oric, Now that's a strange name, sort of like Red Oric the Norse raider.

The pace of change accelerated beyond AAPLs ability to manage it. The cloners were faster on the uptake and came out with newer better boxes that AAPL got mudstuck.

I hope Jobs does those things you suggest. I have no great respect for him as a manager or guru. I see him at the right place at the right time to cathc the first wave. After that he lived on stored fat.
The NeXt was a debacle, and there might not be much to save from it. I hope al and his clan shunt him to the side and let him rouse rabble and play on reminiscences of the past. Letting Jobs do any real work will kill the company(no-one has seen him work in living memory, he was a rabble rouser(talker/schmoozer) from the first. I think he is stuck in the past and must not be heeded, just used for image effects.
Rhapsody has yet to prove itself. Up to now it has filled pipelines and replaced old OSs, but it does not seem to earth shattering in any way. Some of the promised derivatives that run on the Intel platform might extend it's reach, but they better act fast.
