>>Whatever the case, their excuse for not showing it is lame.

But Vivus sure has a good excuse for not forking over the mega-bucks
it would have cost them to run that ad during the Super Bowl.

Uh, Hellloooo .... This was the Super Bowl. You do not venture into such a new topic for the first time during this sacrosanct--and very lucrative--male tribal bonding ritual. It's obviously not offensive; NBC is simply lying. But NBC has to worry about other advertisers. I think this is the main thing. Think about it: A lot of these male viewers would be confronted with a topic they are half hiding from themselves, and now they see it during the Super Bowl. Soul-searching time. No one's going to be in the mood for belchy fart humor immediatley after that. They're going to get a little serious, a little thoughtful--a quiet moment for many men. Shudder ... that is patently anti-American (i.e., against the usual mindless malleable consumer consciousness the ad agencies love to sell to their clients). I can tell you, if I were Annheiser-Busch (a strange concept, but you know what I mean), I WOULD NOT WANT MY SWAMPY BUD ADS TO FOLLOW THAT VIVUS AD. Would you, at 1.3 MD (megadollars) per minute?
