If you really want to take the headache out of it all just drop everything into an S&P500 index fund. Mgmt fees are like 0.1% and depending on whom you read, less than 20% of fund managers beat it over time! Managed funds charge anywhere from 1% to 2.5% and sometimes higher. That's where these guys kill you - for example - a 1% mgmt fee over a 30yr timeframe will eat ~30% of your overall gain. Nota Bene.....
