Good question. Since I don't know why the Eagles would favor DC over the Giants, by default I think they must have tanked for a better draft pick. Either that or Pederson either had a lot of money riding on this game or was being pressured by people who did.

Even though I understand the logic of tanking, I think the NFL should fine Pederson and the team for making a mockery of what pro sports is about: the integrity of the game itself. Because once you start to lose on purpose -- for any reason -- you leave yourself open to be second-guessed for losing because of monetary reasons. If anything will ruin pro sports, it's the perception (rightly or wrongly) of money changing hands illicitly to benefit those in the know.
