Hi Ron and others,

I attended the meeting on Jan 29th. Zitel demonstrated the portable factory after the initial presentation. I got a chance to spend about an hour with the gentleman who was operating the factory. It was really nice to see it working. I work in the software industry (non-Mainframe). It is a very good tool in my judgment. They prepped and fixed 56,000 LOC in front of us. They were able to answer all of the questions with confidence.

It was different from the last years meeting. Management looked much more confident and didn't shy away from questions like last year. They were openly showing thier frustration about the slow start of y2k conversion market. They repeatedly told that they are confident that they have been selected by couple big agencies for y2k contracts. But agencies have not released the contracts yet. Lots of companies and agencies have been trying to postpone the expenses as much as they can or trying to find other less expensive means (e.g. mannual/inhouse etc.).
While talking to one of the Zitel official, I was told that most of the potential clients are realizing that the have a really large problem in thier hands and they have to spend a lot of money to fix it. There isn't any shotcut. Some of the agencies that liked Zitel/MD tool initially but tried to do it by themselves are coming back for Zitel for help.
I think MD has also changed it's pricing structure to penetrate the market quick. MAP2000's accuracy in date finding and the MICRO test are the best in the market.

They have done re-structuring (lay-off) as part of their goal to be profitable soon. They are expecting some good results from their software products (Viewpoint). CASD-III will be out soon.
Manufacturing will be out sourced. Viewpoint for some specific applications (Oracle etc.) will also be out soon.

My Conclusion:
Relatively, I am much more confident about Zitel's prospects in Y2K.
MAP2000 is really one of the best products for year 2000 fix.
Zitel/MD will sure make some money in this area and if the market is as big as some the experts predicted and is as late as it seems then Zitel/MD will make a lot of money.

You all have the right to have a different opinion.
Good Luck to all
