loki, I've already mentioned that you can count on a charge in the july earnings for the dec purchase or a charge in october.
i will not talk about what the charges are for since they are across the board. Igot an accountant all worked up on the tandem purchase.
I said there wuld be a charge and they said there wouldn't..well guess what tandem had a charge<gg>
I think they sell the pc division(gtw should buy it) and they will shut down many of the mfg'ing plants since cpq is more effecient,
they also will stop all SMT purchases that dec might have been doing.
since cpq has the best smt mfg'ing in the world,
one might look at a selectron, jabil, SCI or who ever was doing dec's SMT..because a contract mfg'er will lose some biz.

as to dec's carry over , i haven't looked at that yet.
I do think that cpq will end up with more cash after the purchase than before the purchase.
so, that is more than 6.8 after they dismantel alittle. and dec had 3.5 billion anyway.
I would like to know the details of dec and what they get to buy intel chips for since they won the lawsuit. and what is dec's cost for a 64 bit chip. my guess is cpq has bargains on those prodcuts and the chip is largest part of the high end pcs.
I have a whole list of what cpq will do...
I'll mull on it awhile
cpq understands that some people are for after the plant is going and some do better on start up., some better in RMA, and on and on ,
they give birk's to all employees
