George Will had a very good column last month on how it is not possible for a president to pardon himself according to the constitution. The wording in the constitution always refers to others with regards to pardon power, not oneself. With all the originalists on the Supreme Court, there's no way that would pass muster. As for a Senate trial, how can you have a fair trial when you have to cram it all together in less than a week? The 25th is designed to get rid of someone fast. Impeachment and trial is not designed to move fast. I just don't see how the political parties can receive a net benefit by removing him before the 20th.
