Peer-to-peer would be the way to go, maybe... With a community supported smart fone OS to get around android and Ios. There are a number of them around for android fones. Not sure about apple. I think, in the end, this (the tech attempted takeover) is going to be extremely unprofitable for all sorts of big tech companies...
