They were criminals, that doesn't mean they were not also protesting or that they were not patriots. But being those two things doesn't mean they were not criminals or that they were not unreasonable.

BTW Did you think "the mobsters were not patriots, not protesters, they were reprehensible deplorables about all the people who throughout much of 2020 attacked both private property and state and federal and local government installations? The language you quote suggest that you did. If so, good your consistent.

But many of the people having the strongest reactions to the recent situation in the capital, were supporters of, or at least quietly accepted all that violence and disruption.

Of course "they did it too" or even "they did it first and worse" isn't a defense of what the people at the capitol did.
