Melissa, I don't know whether this explains it or not, but BAAN is a Dutch company, and reports in guilders. The USD has shown some recent weakness which may (pure conjecture on my part) be responsible for the apparant discrepancy in how BAAN's numbers are being interpreted.

Regards,

Paul

Melissa -

Regarding the inconsistencies:

1) My understanding on BAAN is that expectations (Zacks, I think) was .14 and they came in at .14 . It wouldn't surprise me if First Call estimates were .15 . Remember there are several different estimates out there with different methodologies and calculations of the Streets average.

2) Regarding the Barron's article, I am not surprised if an analyst does not have his/her details straight - it happens all the time. Anyway, in this case, the analyst mentioned that his son worked for the company. It sounds like the man is not very familiar with the technology stocks and he's going outside his area of expertise on the basis of information from his son. I agree that Peoplesoft has clearly made the transition(s) from HR and Financials, perhaps he was just trying to tell "the story"....Anyway, he didn't come accross as very knowledgeable but it's good exposure nonetheless.
