That's an incorrect translation. It was about arrests of people in Hong Kong. It looked like NZ government declined to participate in criticism of the arrests or whatever the challenge to China was in regard to the arrests.

I have some sympathy with Jacinda on this.

While it's good fun to tell other countries off, I prefer managing NZ better to telling others how to run themselves.

China could demand NZ stop racism and I would appreciate their backing. Also China could advise on avoiding Islamic conquest. And how to suppress criminals. Maybe Jacinda would appreciate their advice.

Regarding Hong Kong and Taiwan, what's needed for both are Singapore rules aka independence.
