Educated guess.

!. He didn't want the evacuation (splatter) on walls, floor, his face, etc.

2. He wanted excessive arterial blood ( not that a head wound wouldn't give you that)

3. He didn't want to shoot her but was ordered and actually caused as little distortion to her body as possible. This caused as little bystander trauma as possible.

But it was clear. He intended to kill her. And if she was coming through a window, he knew her hands were empty.

By order or by personal desire, he knew he was going to take her life,
