Qwest Communications International Sets 2-for-1 Split
QWEST COMMUNICATIONS INTL. INC. Sets Two-for-One Split; Secures Commitment from Telecommunications Co.--

Jan. 20, 1998, Qwest Communications International Inc. (Nasdaq:QWST - news) announced that its board declared a two-for-one split, payable February 24 to shareholders of record on February 2.

In addition, QWST announced that a ''leading international telecommunications services provider'' will lease bulk services on QWST's Macro Capacity Fiber Network beginning with a three-year, $30,500,000 commitment. QWST noted that the customer may also choose to raise its commitment by leasing additional capacity.

technically, the extra share that you receive as a result of a stock split is called a dividend.
