Dave,
AMAT had about a $1.7B backlog of outstanding orders in Q4 of
'97. That will buffer the effects of decreased orders/delays
for a while. The real issue is NEWorders going forward into
Q1-Q2-Q3 of '98. If you invest in AMAT it should be for longer term
returns IMO to maximize the return on your investment unless you
are a trader and ride the waves. I suggest that you do some research
on AMAT and the semi-mfgs, we are all just guessing/speculating at
the moment based on past history. New events could change the equation
and have an effect either way. It depends on how the market reacts
to events/circumstances going forward.

You may want to make incremental investments on weakness in the stock
price to Dollar-Cost-Average if it does drop into the $20's from these
levels.
