yes, I had a gun smith chop my old Remington 870 into a short barrel with a bead, parkerized and added a folding stock pistol grip. It is good to 100yds, although I have never shot any bears beyond 25 yards, and too many to count over the last 4 decades. Mostly black bears and half dozen grizzlies. Had one crew member killed by a young male black bear many years ago. It never took more than 1 rifled slug to drop a bear. I only shot bears when they were a threat to crew members and camps.

For long range shooting, I have a left hand Weatherby 300 Mark V, and for a mid range gun, recently ordered a Tikka 270 stainless Lite (left hand).
