OK.. lets make that the road not taken OK? <g> Words may indeed have simultaneous origins, certainly in other fields there is a timeliness to invention and discovery that's well documented. Yet with the internet I do think its possible to back track word use through search engines and time frames. With this particular event, which began very recently there is such an opportunity as its very unlikely the combination of zipper and watergate didn't have a prior need to be used together. Just to be clear I first thought it better as the zipper presidency as coming from the dual meaning of his pants and the "zipping of lips" to being quiet at the white house on the subject. So zippidy do dah... to you dah (Disney.. circa '57)
